Emma has over 10 years experience in handling personal injury and holiday related claims for tour operators and their insurers, travel agents, cruise operators and hotels. Her expertise is wide ranging from negotiating claims pre issue, to advising on and handling fast and multi track claims involving injury, illness and fatalities sustained during travel and leisure activities. Emma has built up a wealth of experience in defending illness claims, including high value individual claims involving complex secondary conditions such as chronic fatigue, class actions and fraudulent claims.
Notable cases include Matthews v TUI UK Limited (where the court held there was no defect to a lift which caused injury to the Claimant) and Hughes v TUI UK Limited (where the claimant discontinued her illness claim two days before trial). She was also part of the mb LAW team that successfully defended the group action of Booth and Others v Cosmosair Plc , recovering a significant proportion of Cosmos’ legal costs.
She also has considerable experience in making recovery claims for tour operators against overseas suppliers in multi various jurisdictions. Notable recoveries include £320,000.00 for her clients from suppliers based in Egypt, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Spain, Greece and Bulgaria.
