Ian is head of litigation at mb LAW. The members of his team specialise in liability and commercial claims protecting the interests of travel industry clients and their insurers. The team has a proven track record and skill in making recoveries from negligent suppliers in foreign jurisdictions.
Ian has long specialised in defending high value injury claims and group actions. He has extensive experience in handling swimming pool and water sports injury cases and overseas transport accidents involving multiple injuries and fatalities. Notable cases include the important decision in Healy v Cosmosair plc which is still an influential case in hotel swimming pool accidents. He has vast experience in defending illness claims since the early 1990s and is adept at exposing fraud and fabricated claims. He also represents clients at Coroner’s inquests and defends fatal injury dependency actions. Additionally, he acts as company secretary to industry trade associations.
Prior to joining mb LAW in 1992, he worked in Australia specialising in industrial accident and disease and also worked on the Royal Commission into aboriginal deaths in custody.
