Robin joined mb LAW from Royal Caribbean International in 2000 and was appointed director in 2008. He is ranked as a travel specialist in Chambers and Partners.
Robin specialises in defending personal injury litigation on behalf of all types of businesses within the travel industry and their insurers. He has a particular interest in and extensive experience of multi party litigation and catastrophic and fatal accident claims. Robin also specialises in overseas recoveries and has obtained significant recoveries for tour operator clients and insurers in number of countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America.
Cases of note include Lambert v Travelsphere (relating to the obligations of a tour operator when ‘constrained’ to make a significant change), Gray v Cosmosair plc & 1 other (relating to a fatal road traffic accident in Portugal and a successful indemnity claim against a third party coach company), Barlow v Thomson Holidays (relating to the application of a Spanish quasi strict liability standard to the duty of the tour operator under the Package Travel Regulations), Cosmos Holidays Ltd v Dhanjal Investments Ltd (relating to the scope of an indemnity clause in a contract with a Kenyan hotelier), and Gouldbourn v Balkan Holidays Ltd in the Court of Appeal (relating to the impact of local ski school practices on international standards).
Robin also handles commercial litigation for travel and leisure industry clients. As a business graduate, Robin brings strong financial and business skills to the firm. Robin is a member of the Travel and Tourism Lawyers Association.
